India has lifted the ban on the export of personal protection equipment, together with masks. With this transfer, essential objects like surgical masks, disposable masks and all types of gloves besides these made of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), which China urgently wants, might be exported by Indian producers to assist China battle the coronavirus epidemic.

The export of these things was banned by an earlier order dated January 31 this 12 months.

A February eight notification by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) beneath the division of commerce has amended the Export Policy of Personal Protection Equipment/masks. The notification “has been amended to the extent that objects corresponding to surgical masks/disposable masks and all gloves besides NBR gloves are allowed freely for export,’’ DGFT stated in its order.

Indian producers had raised manufacturing of such objects protecting in view the rising demand.
