The Congress on Monday strongly condemned former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah’s detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA), saying it’s the nation’s “misfortune” that the leaders who fought for its unity and integrity have been put behind bars.

Reacting to the event, Congress Rajya Sabha MP and Leader of Opposition within the House Ghulam Nabi Azad stated, “I strongly condemn it. It is most unlucky that a (former) chief minister of one of many oldest political events in Kashmir (has been detained).
“Each chief minister, and every political celebration be it Congress, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir have tried their degree greatest to combat militancy. If there isn’t a militancy in the present day, it’s due to these political events and never the BJP,” he instructed reporters.
If the leaders who fought towards militancy and for the unity and integrity of the nation are put behind bars under the PSA, it’s “misfortune” of the nation, he stated.
