Wrexham AFC has launched an update on the takeover of the club by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The Wrexham Supporters Trust are transferring ahead with the transaction and have concluded negotiations over the acquisition of shares and contracts have been exchanged.

However belief chiefs stated, rumours an announcement was imminent, the club take over was finished, weren’t right.

The WST board has launched a press release this afternoon to make clear the state of affairs.

It stated: “The WST Board wish to subject the next update concerning the proposed takeover of Wrexham AFC by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

“It has come to the Wrexham Supporters Trust Board’s consideration member posted unofficial and unsubstantiated remarks on social media concerning the takeover being ‘concluded tomorrow’ (implying Monday 18 January 2021).

“Please be suggested that the WST Board will let members know as quickly as potential by way of official Club/WST channels when there are additional developments or when issues have been finalised.

“Last week the board concluded negotiation of the Share Purchase Agreement with RR McReynolds LLC and have exchanged contracts.

“Completion of the deal is now conditional upon a change to the Wrexham Supporters Trust guidelines – as permitted by the members in November final 12 months – being registered by the Financial Conduct Authority.

The stars beforehand spoke of how they might make a Netflix-syle documentary if their takeover bid was profitable.
